Ruth Acker founded AV in 1985 as a financial and management consulting firm specializing in early-stage companies.

Past and present clients include public and privately-held for-profit and nonprofit companies engaged in project development and ownership, manufacturers of alternate energy and pollution control equipment, start-up service providers, intermediate-stage businesses requiring strategic capital, unregulated utility subsidiaries, investment banking firms, attorneys, CPAs, engineers, and consulting firms. Ruth’s prior experience includes:
Schuyler Investments Corp., Director and Vice President, 1983-1985. Developed and financed $55 million of waste-to-energy and cogeneration projects. Provided financial advisory services to other companies. Prepared business plan, financial pro formas and placement memorandum for firm’s subsidiary and privately placed stock to obtain development capital. Set up accounting, management and marketing systems. Co-managed firm’s investments.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Tax-Exempt Financing Program Coordinator, 1980-1983. Issued $412 million and took official action on $1.5 billion of tax-exempt and taxable bonds to finance various energy projects. Advised over 100 companies and analyzed 65 transactions. Hired to create the financial and strategic framework for the program. Worked with the president to develop a venture capital program.
